5 tips to Decorate with Christmas Joy this Holiday Season
The changes that 2020 has brought to our holiday season might cause some of us to worry that the COVID-19 Grinch is trying to steal Christmas. While we can’t change the current events around us or personally slay the pandemic, we can do our part to bring joy into our spaces this holiday season.
Here are some popular decorating trends to keep the Grinch away:
Deck the doors!
Sometimes as of late our doors may feel more like prison doors or gates than the happy entrance to our homes. With many of us spending less time traveling and more time at home our doors are seen and used more than ever and can be a great way to express holiday cheer. You will not only cheer up yourself, but also your neighborhood. Use Pinterest to find inspiration to deck out your doors this holiday season.
Bring nature in!
Natural elements can help brighten up our spaces and make us feel more connected to the earth and environment. How about using a beautiful wreath on your front door or a festive garland? You can incorporate natural touches throughout your décor. A textured placemat on the table, fresh greenery, dried foliage and raw wood are all great ways to bring the outside in!
Rainbows of color!
Color is a great way to naturally increase our happiness. You can incorporate color into your décor in so many creative ways. Vivid colors can brighten up a room and bring joy to your space. How about colorful drinking bar glasses or rainbow-colored string lights? Etsy, Pinterest and other sites can help you find creative ways to add color to your space.
Take back the blues!
We don’t want you to be blue this Christmas, but blue tie-dye designs are on trend this year. These indigo-dyed décor items can be used to creatively add blues to your room and keep your joy at the same time. A tablecloth or Christmas tree skirt can be a great way to incorporate blues into your theme.
Let it snow!
Snow is often the Hallmark Movie theme of Christmas. While some of us don’t always appreciate every aspect of snowy, wintery weather, there is a certain charm to sitting inside and watching the snow fall with a warm cup of coffee in hand and loved ones close by. While most of us aren’t going to bring that real snow inside (on purpose) we can incorporate powdery fake snow to ‘flock’ our décor items and bring the outside in without the wet, melty mess! No real snowmen in the living room.
These 5 simple tips are only a few of a dozen ways you can add joy to your space and keep that pesky Grinch at bay. We all are doing our part to keep our spirits and our neighbors up this holiday season. Starting with your space is any easy way to bring a smile to someone’s face, including yours.
